PREPARE TO MARCH ORDER

September 1, 2013

WOW…IT’S MOVING FASTER THAN I EXPECTED.

Our design partner Scott Wertel in Arizona has more drawings done than I expected.  I have almost all the detail drawings near completion already.  But we need to do more than make drawings for skilled shop workers.  I want to deliver illustrated explanations of model building methods on these drawings.  They are all on large formats so I can add photos and text to detail the procedures to shape parts.  Some parts are to be delivered already laser cut with computer accuracy.  But small balsa and foam parts may seem impossible to define.  But since they are often shaped or hot wired in the structure, the frames guide the shaping process.  It can be easier than it looks.

It won’t be as easy as it looks on this video, so I will be adding a lot of detail to these drawings over the next few weeks.  http://animoto.com/play/TD8F8WTvnbrYD3UphILCzw  I made these drawings to compare the old glider to the new R/C model.  We preserved the center of gravity points while adding more wing area for the added weight.  Performance projections look good now.  These drawings illustrate how blue prints and photos can deliver more information to builders.

These drawings do not need the power of a desk top computer so my lap top and I can go back into my trailer and work out in the woods.  Short trips to the mountains will get us ready for the big trip to Arizona while ducking the hot days in the valley.  Before we do that I went on a recon drive to the Medicine Bow Mountains Sunday.  Like most National Forest areas there are miles of back roads to camp on.  I even got to add a new dent to the FJ Cruiser on a jeep trail!

HOMEWARD BOUND…AND ANOTHER GREAT WESTERN SUNSET!

When the drawings are checked and delivered parts will be coming out of fabrication.  I will make a trip to Arizona to deliver a few parts and a lot of full scale blue print drawings.  Now we will be able to get our demonstration flight and offer kits to other builders.

I will have business in Colorado in September, and should reach Arizona in October.  Get those temperatures back down into snow bunny comfort ranges Arizona…the Captain’s Log is online again!
