COOL RECEPTION

TEXAS…The adventure

Adventure; well, that’s one word for it.  I protected the trailer from freezing until the weather station promised one day of above freezing temperatures.  I was packed and ready to roll on Saturday November 15th.  We were a little late leaving because I had been getting up every 3-4 hours to fire the heater under the trailer.  Then we started hitting traffic after we entered Colorado.  Everyone else was fleeing to southern destinations and an accident slowed us all to 30 miles per hour.  Then I discovered some damage to my trailer electrical cord.  I gave up and landed at a motel in Longmont Colorado.  The rest of the trip rendered the trailer frozen and resigned us to motel stops.  One bonus was a tail wind and low gas costs to offset the motel costs.  We sailed south at 70 miles per hour on that cold Alaska wind.  The cold gave way to a full blizzard in the Texas panhandle and we gained a few hundred pounds of ice.  Texas finally thawed the trailer and the crew as we met Team Prometheus in Lampasas Texas.

Monroe King is team Prometheus and we may have a similar view on space access.  I hope we can complete a team with three legs: ideas, funding, and know how.  We may be making some steps towards the goal.  I hope to illustrate some new ideas towards those goals soon.  Some of my life experiences seemed as rough as this trip, but they gave me tools for the mission.  As a car salesman I was not using my main skills, but those new skills may help me build this new vision.  This hard voyage was not what I hoped for, but it may yield more assets for this goal.

Now I see the potential to build another step towards the goal.  The model airplane is under construction, and I need to look to a more advanced demonstration.  We have potential for propulsion, airframes, avionics, and Texas offers places for unmanned flight testing.  With this potential I need to set up the computers for some new design work.  So now we are off for the only camp we could find or afford in prime season in Texas.  Now we’re setting course for Austin Texas and later visits to Triton Launch Systems in Houston.
